"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD." Psalms 27:14
There are TWO ways of "waiting" : 1) Passively (2) Expectantly
The "passive" person has a lot of wishbone but no backbone!
We must "wait" EXPECTANTLY! This demonstrate that we are living by Faith.
The word "wait" means to (1) Expect or to look out for and (2) to Serve (as a waiter).
That is why God called His people who are "waiting" : SERVANTS and HANDMAIDENS - Joel 2:29, Acts 2:18
"That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises" (Hebrews 6:12)
Jesus gave them a command to "wait" (Acts 1:8) - they understood that the process of "waiting" is through prayer
Faith and patience are power twins for changes to operate in our lives.
Faith opens the door and patience keeps the door open!
We "wait" on God by:
Prayer - Ps. 25:4-5
Prayer and Fasting - Ex. Daniel (Dan. 10:1-3)
Praise - Acts 16 & Ps. 65:1 and Worship - Acts 13:2
Meditation (quiet time) - Lamentation 3:25-26, Ps. 46:10
Also by serving - Joel 2:29 & Acts 2:18
Another spiritual power twins are Prayer and Waiting.
“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:30-31)
